The all-rounder among the exotic fruits
If there is one fruit that has really exploded in popularity, it has to be the avocado. And not without good reason: it is an all-rounder in the kitchen. The sheer number of recipes that feature avocado is incredible and just proves how popular it is. You can have avocado for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
This exotic fruit is covered by a green, reddish brown or almost black skin that feels a little rough and bumpy to the touch. Inside is soft, creamy flesh. Ready-to-eat avocados are known for their health beneficial properties. Of all the varieties grown in the world there is one that stands out: the Hass avocado. This versatile fruit can be prepared in so many ways! Simply slice around the stone, twist the two halves apart, remove the stone with a spoon and either remove the skin or scoop out the flesh with a spoon. There is also a super-handy avocado slicer that makes the hard work safe and easy! Literally in a flash!

Avocados are rich in healthy unsaturated fats. It has been shown that replacing saturated fats in the diet lowers the blood cholesterol. High cholesterol is a risk factor in the development of coronary heart disease. Ready-to-eat avocados are a source of vitamin B6. Perhaps not the best-known vitamin, but don't underestimate the role of B6. It contributes to the formation of red blood cells, activates the natural energy in the body and has a positive influence on your immune system. A sufficient intake of vitamin B6 in your diet can also reduce fatigue. And another remarkable fact: B6 is good for your concentration!
Avocados are stone fruit that grow on trees. Left to their own devices in nature these trees can reach 20 metres, but for commercial cultivation the height is limited to 2-5 metres. The trees are pruned to make harvesting easier. The trees start to produce fruit after 3 years. Our growers measure the oil content in the fruit. At EAT ME we harvest the avocados 2 weeks later than usual. This gives the fruits the chance to form more dry mass and take on a delicious nutty flavour. Our avocados come from various regions, such as Peru, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, South Africa, Morocco, Kenya and Spain.
The less packaging material the better. And if we have to use packaging, it should preferably be environmentally friendly. Take the avocado 2-pack, a 100% certified cardboard packaging that can be completely recycled. It doesn't just reduce plastic use, but also transport movements.
